Vilnius City Municipality launches a three-year project to enhance the inclusion of residents of foreign origin

From the beginning of 2026, the Vilnius City Municipality will actively implement activities of a three-year project aimed at the integration of non-European Union nationals into the life of the city of Vilnius. The project is funded by the European Union Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania.

The target group of the project includes non-European Union nationals and stateless persons who hold a valid residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania and have declared their place of residence in the city of Vilnius.

The project aims to strengthen the integration of third-country nationals at psychological, social, cultural, and linguistic levels, as well as to promote positive attitudes within the local community. Particular attention is given to individuals arriving from countries affected by war or authoritarian regimes, who often face additional psychological burdens, emotional trauma, or a lack of trust in public institutions.

Within the framework of the project, mental health and psychological support services will be provided, sociocultural orientation trainings will be organised, information, counselling, and mediation services will be delivered, and legal, financial, and digital safety literacy will be enhanced. The project will also promote volunteering and mentorship initiatives and foster positive public attitudes.

The total value of the project is EUR 3,427,657.44, of which EUR 2,570,743.08 (75%) is financed by the European Union Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and EUR 856,914.36 (25%) by the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania.

The project is implemented by the Vilnius City Municipality in partnership with International House Vilnius, Vytautas Magnus University, and the Vilnius City Mental Health Centre.
